The problem
What it costs while files wait
Three costs show up in every group we talk to. Only the first one is easy to see.
1 · Revenue that waits
~$590 a day
A provider who collects about $18,000 a month leaves roughly $590 unbilled for every day they wait to be credentialed and enrolled. A 90-day wait is about $53,000, for one provider.

2 · Things that lapse quietly
- A license, DEA registration or malpractice certificate that expires
- A CAQH attestation that runs out (every 120 days)
- A re-credentialing date that passes (every 36 months)
- A monthly exclusion check that never happened
Each one surfaces as a denied claim, a recoupment, a payer termination letter, or an audit finding, usually after the money is gone.
3 · Rosters payers have wrong
- A provider who left is still listed
- A new location or address never reached the payer
- The NPI or name doesn't match the national registry
Payers pay against the roster they hold, and directory rules now expect provider details confirmed every 90 days.
For a 200-provider group hiring 10 a quarter, our calculator puts about $2.1M of billing a year in the waiting line alone, before anything lapses.
In one sentenceWaiting costs money every day, and lapses cost more, later, when they're harder to fix.
